Nokia Lumia 1020 to allegedly reach End of Life in September

The Camera King Lumia 1020 won't be produced any more and sales will cease shortly after that.It seems the Nokia Lumia 1020 is about to reach the end of the road. According to a tweet by evleaks, the phone will reach End of Life on September 14.

Nokia launched the Lumia 1020 in July last year. As with any Windows Phone, the Lumia 1020 didn't exactly set sales charts on fire, especially considering the high price of the phone in many markets.
Today, it is hard to find a camera phone that can match the image quality of the Lumia 1020.
By End of Life, we assume it means the phone won't be produced any more and sales will cease shortly after that. however The phone will continue to get updates from Nokia.

evleaks:Nokia Lumia 930 images leaked,looks like Icon

Nokia Lumia 930 image leaks ahead of launch, looks like Icon

Images of Nokia's next global flagship device have leaked ahead of Microsoft and Nokia's big reveal at Microsoft Build, hosted in San Francisco on Wednesday.

The leaked picture, presumably of the Nokia Lumia 930, comes courtesy of frequent (and frequently correct) Twitter tipster @evleaks.

If the image is correct, the forthcoming Lumia 930 looks a heck of a lot like the Nokia Lumia Icon being sold exclusively through Verizon here in the US. Where Verizon offers the white version only, this picture shows the phone in neon green and bright orange as well.

The very good Lumia Icon has a 5-inch screen, 20-megapixel camera, and quad-core processor. With any luck, the global version of the phone, presumably the 930, will also contain Windows Phone 8.1, along with its new OS updates like the Cortana voice assistant.

Nokia Lumia 930 will release in Q2 2014:Rumoured

Nokia could be preparing to launch the Nokia Lumia 930 in Q2 2014, updating the Lumia 920/925 position with a new flagship handset.

It's the first time we've heard of this device, but following the announcement of the Lumia Icon ,
It will have same specs as in Lumia Icon.
Nokia and Microsoft pulled the covers off the Nokia Lumia Icon early. The ICON is a Verizon exclusive, so won't be appearing on other global networks. so 930 will be the global version of Lumia Icon and 930 will run on windows phone 8.1 and will upgraded into WP 9.
The Nokia Lumia 930 is rumoured to have a 4.5-inch 1920 x 1080 Amoled resolution display, 2.2GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and a 20 or 41-megapixel PureView camera.also includes
1/2.5'' sensor, 1.12 µm pixel, PureView technology, dual capture, Gorilla glass 3/4.
and 930 will work on 4G LTE globally.
Those specs, apart from the screen size, match those of the Nokia Lumia Icon and the Lumia 1520, so they sound pretty likely. It also puts the handset into the same sort of territory as flagship Android handsets specs-wise, updating the Lumia 925. There were previous rumours of a device called the Lumia 1520V and the 930 could be the same device.
We're hoping the Nokia Lumia 930 draws inspiration from the slim profile of the 925, rather than the chunkier 920. We're not sure why Nokia would stick at 4.5-inches for the 930, especially given the Icon's 5-inch display, but that might be just to keep the overall size down.

THE 3.5 MONTHS UNDERWATER NOKIA LUMIA 800

Nokia devices have a long hard-as-nails history of being bashed, crashed and smashed, yet still surviving against all the odds.

Just do a Web for search “Indestructible Nokia” and you’ll see what we mean. Nevertheless, this is the first time we’ve heard of a Nokia Lumia surviving at the bottom of a lake. And not just for a few minutes, but for three and a half long months.
First shared on the Nokia Sweden Facebook page a week or so ago, this story has been around the Web and back again. Now, we’ve caught up with the man who performed the impossible, and salvaged this sunken Lumia treasure, to get the inside story. Put your hands together for fantastic fixer, Roger Nilsson.
Sweden is blessed with hundreds of beautiful lakes. Which one of these swallowed the Nokia Lumia 800 and how did it happen?
In May, a work friend of mine was sunbathing with her husband by Lake Ivösjön, which is the largest and deepest lake of Skåne in Sweden. Her Lumia 800 was laying on a towel and her husband didn’t see it when he picked it up, so the poor Nokia fell down the cliff and into the water. They tried to find it but no luck.
NokiaLumia800underwater
So, how was it found and how did it look when you saw it?
At the end of August another friend went snorkelling and Anna asked him to look for her phone at the same time. Amazingly, he found it 2 meters down. Anna brought the phone to me the next day and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it. It was completely covered in algae, shells and brown stuff. I told Anna that this phone is dead but I’d have a go at it.
Was it tough to fix?
I started to clean the whole phone (it took almost 6 hours) and then I put it on a radiator to dry for about four days. I never opened it! On the fifth day I put the charger in it thinking either it will blackout my house or the charger would brake, but damn I was surprised when I saw Nokia on the screen and then the Windows Phone logo.
What was your reaction when it started to work again and how did seeing it spark into life make you feel about Nokia phones?
I called all my friends including Anna and she said, “Yeah, right. It’s not April 1st now!” But it was true. Everything works perfect, camera is good, and battery is perfect. The only little issue is that sometimes it wants to lower the volume by it self. I told all my friends that my next phone will be a Nokia and if I can afford it, one with that nice JBL PlayUp speaker that can charge the phone wireless. That would be a dream come true for me.
underwaterlumia800
Needless to say, we love a happy ending here at Nokia Conversations, especially when it means we can add underwater survival to the plethora of indestructible Nokia stories we so regularly hear. That said, we definitely wouldn’t advise taking your phone for a dip.

The magic camera ingredients inside the Nokia Lumia 1020

Lets see the magic inside 41 mp camera in lumia 1020..
The Nokia says about it....

Optics

First we have the optics system with its six element lens, which Eero says is the highest performing optics ever been put into a Nokia device.
The optics captures all the light from the scene and focuses it on top of the image sensor, thus forming the image. A wide angle lens is also used for a wide field of view – everyone can fit in the picture.

There are many different parameters that affect the optics and the sharpness of the images that they can produce. The imaging team were determined to improve upon the optics that they had created for the Nokia 808 PureView. So the F-number was improved from the 808 PureView’s f 2.4 to f 2.2 in the Lumia 1020 – this allows even more light through and improves the performance in low light conditions.
“Together with ZEISS, we went through many, many optics designs and technologies in order to come up with optics that were slim enough to fit inside the Lumia 1020,” reveals Eero.

Auto-Focus

The auto-focus enables the camera to focus at different distances. This means that the lenses need to move up and down, to vary the distance between the lens and the image sensor.
“This is done in the Lumia 1020 by very small but yet very strong voice coil motor. Together with auto-focus algorithms it decides where the lens needs to move and then the motor is physically moving the lens to the right position. This enables sharp pictures.”

Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS)

Shaky hands are a common problem when people are taking pictures. In Nokia’s OIS solution the whole lens system is resting on ball bearings.
“The special gyro components are very accurate and fast in detecting how the phone is moving and the lens is moved by the motors in the opposite direction very quickly to compensate for the handshake.”

41-megapixel sensor

The headline-grabbing 41-megapixel sensor is the component that collects the light and which eventually forms your beautiful pictures.

The sensor doesn’t work alone – there’s also some clever image processing involved. We’ll hear more about this later.

Xenon Flash

As Stephen Elop demonstrated at the Lumia 1020’s launch, it also has a great Xenon flash.
“It offers a really nice light spectrum and the colour is very close to sunlight so it means you can have really accurate colour reproduction. Another benefit of Xenon is that the light comes as a very short pulse so it helps to stop the movement in the picture. It’s also great in typical use case when light is behind the target providing a nice fill in flash”
The Xenon flash can make all the difference when you’re taking photos in low light, or in the dark. Eero reveals that the Lumia 1020 has the most powerful Xenon flash that Nokia has ever used. Embedded within the flash is also the video light and autofocus assist light which helps attaining focus in the dark.

The module

The camera module is the casing that packages everything together so that it slots neatly inside the Lumia 1020. It measures 25mm by 17mm and contains well over 130 individual components.
“Every single camera component is tested, calibrated and the quality is verified. We make sure that each module performs extremely well,” says Eero.
“The overall module design was also key to making the Lumia 1020 a sleek package.”

Image processing

The final component is not, strictly speaking, a component at all. Capturing the light through the optics and then focussing it on the image sensor is just the beginning.
Nokia’s image oversampling algorithms take millions and millions of samples every time you take a picture. The raw data is put through a huge number of different algorithms in order to produce the final image with great colour reproduction and sharpness.
For Lumia 1020 we have improved many of the critical image processing algorithms like white balance, autofocus and many more.

With a super-fast internet connection, there’s a real demand for big, beautiful screens that help bring all the content to life – this is where the Nokia Lumia 625 arrives with a really competitive price to match.”
The Nokia Lumia 625 is also notable for its stand-out design, something Nokia is famous for with the award-winning Lumia range. Vinay says it’s the element of the phone that makes him most proud. Rounded surfaces all over – even down to the edges of the glass – give the phone an organic feel like a smooth pebble. Together with a matt finish, this is a smartphone that you want to roll around in your hand.

Orange starts the range

Available in orange, yellow, bright green, white and black, the layered polycarbonate on the changeable shells gives the surface of the Lumia 625 a translucent quality that signals an evolution in materials design. We cover this and the other design aspects more closely in a separate interview.
The Nokia Lumia 625 comes with all the amazing Nokia apps and services that enrich the navigation, entertainment and imaging possibilities of the Windows Phone 8 operating system. It also comes with the latest Lumia Amber update.

Amber Update is On The Way

what is amber - Latest update arriving on WP8 Lumia smartphones

Nokia Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8 are about to get a whole lot smarter. The new Nokia Lumia Amber software update is starting to roll out and will deliver a wide range of new and improved features and apps, like Nokia Glance Screen with the standby clock and an even better imaging experience for Nokia Lumia owners.Lumia Amber builds upon the latest update for Windows Phone 8 from Microsoft. In itself, this provides a number of significant additions: a new FM radio player and improvements to Xbox music and the Internet Explorer browser.

Improved image processing

The update brings significantly improved algorithms that offer better noise reduction, colour reproduction, exposure control and autofocus to every phone across the Lumia range. On the Lumia 920, controls to adjust the ISO settings of the camera from 800 to 3200 allow for even better low light performance.

Nokia Smart Camera

Debuted on the Nokia Lumia 925, this new camera app is ideal for taking pictures involving people and movement. Starting today, you will be able to get the app from the Store after downloading Lumia Amber to your phone.
Smart-Camera_family
The app brings a slew of different options – use Best Shot to find the sharpest image from a series of ten; combine several shots of people in movement into one with Action Shot; heighten the appearance of speed by blurring the background with Motion Focus; create ideal group shots by choosing the best faces from a series with Change Faces, or remove unwanted objects from your pictures.
action_shot_465
Note that Smart Camera’s performance scales according to the capabilities of your device. On the Nokia Lumia 720, 620 and 520, the burst mode used for some effects takes seven pictures rather than ten, and these are a lower resolution than on devices with more RAM (one-megapixel rather than five). Still great for social sharing on the Web.

Shoot like a pro

On top of the Lumia Amber update, the newly announced Nokia Pro Camera will be available for the Lumia 920, Lumia 925, and Lumia 928 starting today. Once you’ve taken great videos with your updated Lumia, you can edit them quickly with the Nokia Video Trimmer app and upload them to YouTube with Nokia Video Upload. Both apps will be available in the Store starting today.

But it’s not all about pictures. The Lumia Amber software update also contains a few more, keenly awaited extras.

Nokia Glance Screen

Perhaps one of the features that has been most requested on Nokia Lumiasmartphones. Nokia Glance Screen brings a clock to your screen when the phone is inactive, along with indicators to show the battery level when running on a low battery or the phone is charging, and whether your phone is set to ‘silent’.You can activate the Nokia Glance screen in the ‘display and touch’ section in Settings by swiping left to ‘glance’. Nokia Glance screen will be available for all WP8 Lumia devices except the Nokia Lumia 520 and Lumia 625, which have a smaller display memory.

Flip to silence and double-tap to wake

Two favourite features from older Nokia phones that users have asked for. Flipping the phone over is a great and easy way to mute an incoming call. Double tapping the screen is something many people prefer to using the unlock key. Both of them are optional in case you’re worried about having accidents – in our experience, though, that never happens.

Storage Check and faster map updates

You may have already picked this up through another update. We wrote about it here. Briefly, if you’re running out of space on your phone and you want to free some up, you can find out the biggest culprits and deal with them (perhaps you never delete your photos, despite uploading them to SkyDrive, for example).

Finally, with the Lumia Amber update installed on your phone, you can update your HERE Maps even easier and faster, as only those roads and other map features that have been updated will be downloaded — you don’t have to install whole countries anew.

Let’s get started

The rollout starts now first for the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 in selected countries as well as the Lumia 521, Lumia 810, and Lumia 928 in the US. Exact delivery timings will vary by region, phone and operator, but we expect the update to reach your Lumia 520, Lumia 620, Lumia 720, Lumia 820 or Lumia 920 by the end of September.
