Nokia X X+ XL getting software update

Nokia's Android devices X,X+,XL users can now enjoy new software update but not 2.0 platform.Starting from today, those of you with a Nokia X, Nokia X+, or Nokia XL can expect to see some brand new features and enhancements.Nokia revealed the new update with some features from 2.0.

With this update Several great Microsoft services now come pre-installed.
Outlook.com, OneDrive and OneNote all are now integrated and it will become very easy for the user.
The improved Nokia Storealso integrates other third-party app stores, meaning all app exploring can be done under one roof, making for a consistent experience.
Other improvements in the Store include a new Home screen Spotlight widget for app discovery and one-click downloads for faster access to apps.

Starting today, the new software will arrive at your Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL as an over-the-air (OTA) update.
you can manually check by navigating to settings > About phone > System updates > Check now.
Nokia X Platform is practically dead and all planned X phones will be switched to Windows Phone instead.

Android Powered Nokia X2 announced

Microsoft unveiled the next-generation of Nokia X, the Nokia X2.
The X2 features a “stylish exterior” that uses the same kind of translucent outer layer as the Nokia Lumia 620. The X2 also has two buttons at the front of the phone, instead of the single back button found on earlier Nokia X devices.



The X2 houses the qualcomm snapdragon processor (dual core MSM8210 cortex A7) clocked at 1.2GHz with Adreno 305 GPU and runs the Nokia X platform over a bigger screen of 4.3 inches with clear black display supporting resolution of 800 x 480 pixels (WVGA). This handset also supports dual SIM and comes with 5MP auto focus camera placed on the rear with LED flash. There is a front camera of VGA resolution that works with Skype video calls.

There are HERE Maps for navigation and additional features are 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi (hotspot, b/g/n), GPS and Bluetooth 4.0. The X2 comes loaded with 1GB RAM, 4GB storage and 32GB micro SD card support.

A home button that has been added on the Nokia X2 along with the back button. The X2 comes with a slightly higher capacity battery (1800 mAh) as compared with the Nokia X.
The Nokia X2 is priced at €99 (approx Rs. 8,000) (Taxes extra) and will be available in different colours. No word about its launch in India.

Microsoft's Nokia XL smartphone available online at Rs 11,489


Microsoft has launched the large screen variant of the Nokia X, Android-based smartphone, Nokia XL in the Indian market. The phone is available on the the official Nokia online store at a price of Rs 11,489.

Nokia XL sports a 5-inch screen, 768MB RAM, 5MP auto-focus camera with LED flash on the back and 2MP front camera.
Powered by a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, Nokia XL offers dual-sim functionality, access to 3G networks and a display resolution of 800x480p. Nokia offers a 4GB microSD card free with the phone.

Nokia XL runs on a 'customized' version of Android and does not offer access to Google apps and services and the Google Play Store.
The first Nokia Android phone was very popular and most buyed one.

HOW TO UPDATE your x 's SOFTWARE
You can update your Nokia X phone wirelessly Over the Air (OTA). With OTA updates you don’t need any cables or a computer; you can simply download and install the update using your phone. Updates are free of charge, but to download the update, you need an internet connection. It is best to use a Wi-Fi connection to avoid mobile data transmission costs.
Software updates from Nokia are safe to install, and your settings, apps, photos, and text messages remain safe and sound.
Step 1. Your phone notifies you when an update is available for you. You can also check for updates by going to Settings > About Phone > System updates and tapping Check Now.
Step 2. To view and to install the updates, just tap the notification message, click Update and follow the instructions shown on your phone. You can install the update immediately, or postpone the update to a more convenient time.
Step 3. The update takes around 15-30 minutes, and you are not able to use your phone during the update installation. You may need to restart your phone to finish the installation.

Meet the X family of smartphones consisting of the Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL

Finally Nokia will be launching their first android smartphone, not one in fact three.  Nokia made this announcement today at the MWC 2014 in Barcelona. The Nokia X will be available immediately within few weeks for EUR 89 (approx Rs. 7,500) and the X+ / XL will be released in the 2nd quarter 2014 for EUR 99 (approx Rs. 8,400) and EUR 109 (approx Rs. 9,200). Good news for those waiting for Nokia on droid.



Nokia X
This dual SIM handset (Micro SIM) is powered by qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual core processor clocked at 1GHz. Handset weight is 128.7 grams and thickness is 10.4mm. IPS LCD screen is 4 inches supporting 800×480 pixels resolution.

There are accelerometer proximity and light sensors. Key features are 3G, 2G, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS. There is a rear camera of 3MP resolution without flash, it’s a fixed focus camera and the only one (no front camera).

Nokia X comes with 512MB RAM and 4GB storage with 32GB micro SD card support. It runs on Nokia X software platform 1.0 with FOTA support. You can install android apps however there is no access to Google play, instead you will find Nokia’s own app store.

Battery is 1500 mAh that gives talk-time of up to 10 hours.

This handset is exactly similar to the Nokia X but with a minor change i.e. the X+ comes with 768MB RAM.

The XL weight is 190 grams and is 10.9mm thick. The IPS LCD screen here is 5 inches with 800×480 pixels resolution. RAM is 768MB and internal storage is 4GB. Important features are 3G, 2G, Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi.

The Nokia XL is powered by 1GHz Snapdragon S4 dual core processor. It runs on Nokia X platform. There are dual cameras a front camera of 2MP resolution and rear camera of 5MP resolution. The rear camera is auto focus with LED flash support. Battery is 2000 mAh with up to 13 hours talk-time.

The Nokia X will hit the markets first followed by the Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL within the next few months.

NOKIA-X

Nokia plans to launch its first Android based smartphone on February 24, according to a report of The Wall Street Journal. This is however not the first time that reports of a Nokia Android phone has surfaced. The Mobile Indian had earlier also reported about the Nokia X with Android operating system.

The Nokia X is expected to feature a 4-inch touchscreen display with 480x800 pixel resolution. Its design would be a simple marriage of the Nokia Asha and Nokia Lumia series models. Reports also suggest that the smartphone would be powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and 512 MB RAM. The Nokia X will be offered in dual-SIM and is expected to be priced under Rs 10,000 for India.
